Start with your market, not the supplier
Before asking for prices, define who buys from you: cafés, restaurants, supermarkets or other wholesalers. That decides type, size and packing, and makes quotations comparable.
Specifications to agree
Moisture, ash, fixed carbon, piece-size range and allowed fines. Get them in writing and agree how inspection at loading will work.
Low ash and high carbon
Higher fixed carbon and lower ash mean longer burn and less cleaning — but they affect price, so specify the level your market actually needs.
Negotiating price
Price depends on wood type, sorting, packing, quantity and delivery terms. Repeat orders and steady volumes give you more leverage than a single large order.
Shipping and receiving
Check your country's import requirements, ask for loading photos and the container number, and test a sample on arrival. Keep notes to improve the next order.
